I provided feedback on all of your tech briefings on D2L. After you look at it, comment below on the tech idea you would like to do.
THANKS for your comments! If there are any missing souls, there is still time to post a comment. My plan is to post a spreadsheet with some detail; that way you know who is doing what and hopefully can help with them with links and ideas, too. I will probably post topics that address some of your topics. Others (who have signed in) can, too.
I would like to write about Drones and the regulations regarding them.
ReplyDeleteI would like to educate my peers on the many uses, benefits and importance of video streaming in their day to day activities at school, at home, and in the future at work.
ReplyDeleteI would like to write and speak about how technology has affected behaviors and habits in individuals, and how distractions caused by technology affect us as a society.
ReplyDeleteI would like to focus in on how new tech innovations are aiming to solve some of our environmental issues. I will work to find a list of products that are doing this, but then go more in depth with a few of these products.
ReplyDeleteI should have been more clear in my tech briefing proposal, but I would like to teach a basic primer on Tableau and how it is a powerful analytical tool.
ReplyDeleteI would like to look into new and old voice technologies, such as bluetooth calling and the new Alexa system, and see how they affect people with speech impediments. I would also like to analyze if there are measures in place to accommodate the needs of these people who may have difficulty.
ReplyDeleteI would like to discuss how Netflix is using over 30% of the internet, and how they plan on tackling this issue as the company moves forward, adding in interesting element in the last few days. How does going global affect Netflix infrastructure, as well as overall net usage.
ReplyDeleteI would like to present and explore the idea of trusting others and the controversies/ difficulties behind doing that. I'll be looking specifically at organizations such as Airbnb or Uber.
ReplyDeleteI would like to present on the topic of Application Testing, and what it entails. I was on an Application Test team last summer with CGI Federal during my internship.
ReplyDeleteI would like to talk about why the the US is not using fiber optic cabling for Ethernet while the rest of the world is. Using fiber would speed up a lot of the streaming process up, less traffic jams and a more productive environment. This is interesting because all of the new technology is supported by fiber but yet, we are not using the benefits of it. I would like to look more into this topic.
ReplyDeleteThe tech idea I want to talk about is data analytics and the use of personal information. I interned with a data analytics firm that analyzed internet leads, in which people input personal information on sites like LowerMyBills.com. From here, these websites sell these leads to lenders such as Quicken Loans. Some of the concerns that people have is the privacy concerns in where their information goes and who has access to it.
ReplyDeleteId like to focus my tech briefing on VR in live entertainment, the technology that goes in to it, but most importantly, how it will change modern entertainment norms.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to give an overview of how Blockchain works and discuss use cases that don't involve Bitcoin. Also, to explore strengths and weaknesses of a distributed database
ReplyDeleteI would like to teach how to use java to interact with a SQL database. Specifically, how to write a java class that can control this interaction and how to use it.
ReplyDeleteThe tech idea I want to talk about is about autonomous vehicles. I would like to discover the impact it will have on society and the security issues involved with autonomous vehicles.
ReplyDeleteI want to talk about VR music experiences. This Includes using them for music videos, live concerts and music oriented video games. I’ll discuss how artists and video game producers can profit off this new technology.
ReplyDeleteI would like to look into the environmental impact of data centers. This would involve researching current issues with them as well as what technology and policies is helping to improve them. I would also like to look into specific companies' data centers to see what they are uniquely doing to try and improve upon this problem.
ReplyDeleteI plan on teaching R programming as an important tool for numerical analysis and one of the most popular languages used in statistics. It is very similar to SQL or Java, so someone with previous coding experience can easily pick it up. Not only are more stats classes moving towards R, it is really compatible with Tableau reporting. The combination of these two will provide more granular pictures for higher level executives.
ReplyDeleteI would like to focus on the security of the IoT, or lack thereof. I want to find out why companies have essentially ignored it, and what they are (hopefully) doing going forward.
ReplyDeleteI would like to learn and share the basic of Python include how it works, how it is better than other programming languages with the class. It is useful to know the basic concepts for the students who are studying MIS because many technology companies are using Python these days.
ReplyDeleteI would like to present on the use of self-boarding gates at airports in the US. Not only how they work and what the effects of automation have on customers and employees, but why they haven’t been widely implemented across airports in the United States. That leads me to believe that they haven't been very successful so far.
ReplyDeleteI would like to like to write and present about (Technology Habits and Distractions) how technology can contribute to burnouts in school and work-related endeavors and the impact technology has therefore on productivity in coursework and/or in the workplace.
ReplyDeleteI would like to research the topic of music streaming in today's society and how it may or may not have affected the sales of iTunes. Similar to the other topic' "How Netflix killed TV", I feel like there may be similar trends with music streaming apps (SoundCLoud, Spotify, etc.) has killed iTunes. And how iTunes may be adapting to these apps.
ReplyDeleteI would like to talk about how the fiber optic and its contribution to the communication industry.
ReplyDeleteI would like to research the topic of encryption specifically with the idea of P2P connection and how it works as well as the pros and cons that come with this sort of encryption used throughout a business. With that, there are many different routes one can take to use P2P and what data they need to transfer.
ReplyDeleteI would like to research the Hyperloop and the technology behind the new mode of transportation. This could be the future of travel and learning more about it would be very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI would like to research the information security in the cloud computing and cloud software. I will use Amazon AWS as an example to elaborate my topic.
ReplyDeleteI would like to research more on automation and how it will be implemented in businesses. More specifically I would like to learn more about warehouse drones and the impact automation has on jobs.
ReplyDeleteI would be really interested in presenting about the difference between AI and machine learning because I only have a vague understanding of it and would like to go into how there may be a loss of white-collar jobs due to a combination of the two programming styles.
ReplyDeleteI would like to research autonomous vehicles and the way it could change today's industries. I will focus primarily on autonomous vehicles for truck driving and research Uber's new Freight division for autonomous freight shipping.
